TEWKSBURY - John J. Maciejewski, Sr., 86, a resident of Tewksbury, died peacefully on Friday, July 13th in Saints Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Stephanie (Slowik) Maciejewski with whom he was married for 58 years.
He was born in Lowell on December 31, 1921 a son of the late John and the late Emilia (Tomaszewski) Maciejewski.
Mr. Maciejewski was educated in Lowell schools and graduated from the Wentworth Institute in Boston.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving in World War II.
Mr. Maciejewski was employed by Payne Elevator Company where he worked in sales and services for 35 years.
He was proud of his Polish heritage and was the past Commander of the Polish American Veterans in Lowell. Mr. Maciejewski was one of the original founders of the PAV Rangers Drum and Bugle Corps.
In his free time he enjoyed playing golf and belonged to the Longmeadow Golf Club for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two beloved sons, John J. Maciejewski, Jr. of Lowell and Steven Maciejewski and his wife Jacqueline of Tewksbury; his beloved daughter, Elaine Millen and her husband Stan of North Conway, NH; two sisters, Julie Kopec and Gladys Kopec both of Lowell; five grandchildren, John Michael Maciejewski and his wife Laureen, Sarah, Kenny, Leah and Sean Maciejewski, his sister-in-law, MaryAnn Slowik, and several nephews and nieces.
He was also the father of the late Michael Maciejewski and the grandfather of the late Sarah D. Maciejewski who died on Friday, July 13, 2007.
Friends may call on Tuesday at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT from 2:00 until 8:00 PM for John and his granddaughter, Sarah D. Maciejewski's calling hours. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, from the funeral home at 8:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. William Church in Tewksbury, MA. Burial will be in Tewksbury Cemetery prior to his granddaughter's interment in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Longmeadow Golf Club, Scholarship Fund, 165 Havilah Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
