Obituary

LDCR James Marcus Cook (ret.),age 51, of Memphis TN, passed away at his home on July 11, 2007.

Marc was a 1973 honors graduate of Sheffield High School and received a full NROTC Scholarship. Marc graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1976 with a BBA and from Christian Brothers University with a MBA in business. While at Ole Miss, Marc was in the NROTC program and lettered as Captain of the University Rifle Team. Upon graduation Marc was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. After completing Naval Supply School, Marc was stationed at various Supply Corps assignments including Naval Station Midway, USS Fahrion FFG22, USS Wichita AORI, naval Reserve Force, New Orleans, NSA Souda Bay Crete, McGuire AF Base, NJ and NAS Memphis. He participated in Operation Desert Shield and Storm. Among his awards are the Meritorius Unit Commendation, Naval Expeditionary Force Medal, Naval Achievement Medal and Expert Marksman as well as numerous commendations. He retired in 1997 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He also held a private pilot license.

Marc was preceded in death by his parents James L. and Virginia Simmons Cook Jr. He is survived by his sister Semra Parks and her husband Robert of Southaven MS; nephews Bobby and Dalton Parks; and niece Shelby Parks.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service in Henry Chapel. Committal will he held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
