MILLBURY___Louis R. Desmarais, Sr, 60, of Millbury, died Wednesday July 11 in his home.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Regina (Brytowski) Desmarais, a son, Louis R. Desmarais, Jr, of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Laurie A. Desmarais – Melcuk of Greenfield and Lisa M. Hoffsommer of North Brookfield; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Ulysses, Maria, Ashley and Deacon, two brothers, Henry R. Desmarais of Leicester and Richard W. Desmarais of Worcester and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Leo O. Desmarais and Beatrice A. Proal. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of Henry J. and Beatrice E. (Berthiaume) Desmarais and later lived in Shrewsbury for 21 years before coming to Millbury in 1993.
Mr. Desmarais was a truck mechanic 14 years for Active Truck Co. until retiring in 2004. Previously he was a truck mechanic 21 years for Day Brothers. Louis was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of South High School in Worcester.
The funeral will assemble Saturday July 14 at 9:00 a.m. in DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester for a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday July 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
