Dolores D. (Dutra) Chaput, 79, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday July 11, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Donald P. Chaput. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2007
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Clotilda (Reis) Roderick and Joseph Dutra.
She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chaput was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother. She took great pride with the arrival of her first great-granddaughter.
She was a former member of St. John's Ladies Guild and St. John's Couples Club. She enjoyed being with family, especially Arnold and Norma Conde, and friends. She also enjoyed doing scrimshaw, going to antique and flea markets, doing crossword puzzles, and gardening in her yard. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Donald; two children, Pamela D. Texeira and her husband Richard of Dartmouth and David R. Chaput of New Bedford; a sister, Carole Clements and her husband Jack of New Bedford; a brother, Raymond B. Roderick and his wife Diane of New Bedford; a half-sister, Arlene Pedjoe and her husband Roger of Holden; two grandchildren, Amy C. Texeira and Kevin R. Texeira and his wife Kristy, all of Dartmouth; a great-granddaughter, Paige E. Texeira; a step-great-grandson, Jordan; and nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Matthew D. Chaput and sister of the late Nancy Wunschel.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
