John C. Pacheco, Jr., 87, of Dartmouth died Tuesday July 10, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Angelina (Rebello) Pacheco; they had been married for 65 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John C. and Maria (Machado) Pacheco, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life before moving to Dartmouth in 1956.
He was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Mr. Pacheco was formerly employed as a supervisor at Coaters, Inc., until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the Combat Engineers 245th Combat Battalion, participating in the Philippine Campaign. He was a recipient of the Asistic-Pacific Theater ribbon with one bronze service star, the Philippine Liberation ribbon with one bronze star, the American Theater ribbon, the Meritorious Service Unit plaque, the Good Conduct medal, and the World War II Victory medal.
He was a member of the Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans Dr. C.E. Burt Chapter 7.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Pacheco of Acushnet; a sister, Margaret Cagno of Connecticut; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur, Deolinda, and Jesuina Pacheco, Mary Goulart and Palmira Bonnoyer.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
