WORCESTER-Donald P. Wilson, 80, formerly of Beaver Brook Parkway died Tuesday, July 10th in the Christopher House. His wife, Helen V. (McLean) Wilson died in 2003. He is survived by a son, Mark J. Wilson of Worcester; a daughter, Mary Ellen wife of Robert A. Pytko of Webster; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Francis of Grafton.
He was born in Worcester the son of Harold and Anne (Flynn) Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a graduate of St. John’s High School and Worcester State College, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1950 and a Masters of Education in 1952. He taught in the Worcester Public School System from 1950 until retiring in 1987; he served on many professional committees and was the assistant principal at Elizabeth Street School, Lamartine Street School, New Ludlow Street School and most recently at Burncoat Elementary School. Mr. Wilson was a founding member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and a member of its Men’s Club, the St. Vincent de Paul Society and taught CCD. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and a past Junior Commander for Worcester Post #5 American Legion. Mr. Wilson enjoyed reading, gardening, wood working, traveling with his wife and sharing time with his family and friends. He was a devoted and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
The funeral is Friday, July 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 the morning of the funeral.
