Lois E. (Girard) Strand, 60, of Mansfield died on Tuesday July 10, 2007 at home surrounded by the care of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John D. “Jack” Strand to whom she was wed to on October 4, 1970.
Born in Boston, MA on July 14, 1946 she was a loving daughter of the late Henry O. and Amelia M. (Bernard) Girard.
She grew up in Dedham and was educated in Dedham schools. Lois was a devoted homemaker to her loving family.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed watching movies, traveling, trips to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers. Her fondest times spent were those in the presence of her adoring family. Mrs. Strand was a communicant of St. Mary’s church in Mansfield.
Lois had made her home in Mansfield for the past 36 years and was a former resident of Dedham.
In addition to her beloved husband of over 36 years she is survived by her devoted daughters; Christine E. Cook and her husband Bill of Taunton, Susan J. Seifert and her husband Nathan of Mansfield and Jennifer L. Rogers and her husband Michael of Mansfield. Her dear sisters and brothers; Pauline McGrath and her husband John of Norwood, Richard Girard and his wife Sandra of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Beverly Moore and her husband David of Dedham, Vincent Girard and his wife Dorothy of Westwood, Stephen Girard and his wife Janet of Mansfield, Barbara Civitarese and husband Joseph of Hudson, New Hampshire, Russell Girard and his wife Janet of Norwood and the late Eugene Girard, Bernard Girard and Henry Girard. Also survived by her 4 cherished granddaughters; Sofia, Madelyn, Morgan and Gabriella, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday July 13th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 12th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home
