Obituary

Marion Bigelow-Wolfe died on July 8, 2007. An active member of her community, she donated much of her time and resources to both local and national charities and organizations.

Born on June 24, 1928, she attended the Masters School, Pine Manor Junior College, and Goucher College. She married Ernest A. Bigelow in 1949. After his death in 1999, she married Trowbridge Strong in 2001, who died shortly thereafter. In 2004, she married Dr. Henry E. Wolfe of Champaign, IL.

While living in New York City, she was active in the Brick Church, helped start Genesis, a pre-addictive drug program, and served on numerous boards of charitable foundations.

After moving to Connecticut in 1972, she was a member of the Connecticut Humanities Council, the Eugene O’Neil Theatre Center Board of Trustees, and the United Way Board. She was also a past President of Planned Parenthood of Connecticut, and served as a Board member of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. A past Deacon of the Mystic Congregational Church, she was a Vestry member of Calvary Church in Stonington. She was also a corporator of the L & M Hospital in New London, a Board Member of the Community Foundation, and past President of the Garde Arts Center.

Marion leaves four children: Lesley Lohr and her husband Howard; Ernest A. Bigelow and his wife Elizabeth; John I.H. Bigelow and his wife Arlene; and Talman G. Bigelow an his wife Deb. She also leaves her three grandchildren; Hadley Howe Wasson, and Tyler and Kristen Bigelow. She is also survived by four step children: Douglas Wolfe and his wife Lori; Adrienne Wible and her husband Kirk; Gary Wolfe; and Catherine Scudder and her husband Kevin.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will always be remembered with much love by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Calvary Church (Episcopal), 33 Church Street, Stonington CT on Sunday, July 15 at Noon.
