Obituary

Jeanne (Rook) McLean, a resident of Winchester for over 60 years, passed away at home on July 9, 2007. Born in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late C. Roy and Mary (Davidson) Rook. She was a graduate of Westbrook Jr. College in Portland, ME and Children’s Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was a nurse at Children's Hospital for many years. Active and interested in the Winchester community, she participated and volunteered in many clubs and organizations, including the Friends of Winchester Hospital, the Winton Club, and the Winchester Trails Club. She assisted as a driver and volunteer at the Jenks Senior Center. She was also a member of the Parish of the Epiphany Church. In her spare time, she was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed birding with the “Rowley Dump Girls” and the Felix Cutler Bird Club. She was the beloved wife of Donald E. McLean, M.D, and the loving mother of Laurie M.Werle and her husband William T. of Manchester, MA, Duncan C. McLean of Scituate and Donna M. Duffy and her husband John C. of Duxbury. Jeanne was the dear sister of Phyllis Phipps and Caryl Curran, both of FL and the late Neall Rook. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jesse Barron, Usha Arthur, Cortney and Cameron Duffy. A Memorial Service will be held in the Parish of the Epiphany Church, Winchester on Thurs. July 26th at 2PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the MA Audubon/Joppa Flats, Development Office, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773 or to the Parish of the Epiphany Church, 70 Church St., Winchester, MA 01890.
