Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Antonio J. Gentile, Jr., 85, of 10 Dale Avenue, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Born in Gloucester on September 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Antonio and Albina (DeMarco) Gentile. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1939. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was present at the Hickam Air Field in Hawaii during the Pearl Harbor attack. He was honorably discharged in September of 1945. He was also a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #74 of Gloucester.
He was employed as a machine operator at BOMCO, Inc. for several years before his retirement in 1983. He had also once worked for many years at the former Success Mgr. Company and was also a produce manager at the former Ralph’s market in Beverly for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Scott Gentile of Watsonville, CA and Steven Gentile of Boston, a sister, Elvira Shannon, two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Frank and Mary (Linquata) Gentile and Rosario and Mildred (Piscatello) Gentile and Mary (Crowley) Gentile all of Gloucester. He was also predeceased by a brother, Carmen Gentile, a sister and two brothers-in-law, Providenzia and Gene Giovanni and George Shannon.
Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
