LOWELL—Maude Abbie (Hartwell) Smith, 88 years old, a longtime resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, died Monday December 2nd at the Wentworth Nursing Care Center, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of James J. Smith, who survives her.
She was born in Pepperell, on August 1, 1914, daughter of the late Ernest M. and Maud A. (Fuller) Hartwell, and graduated from Groton Schools.
Mrs. Smith was employed as a L.P.N. at the Allerton Hospital, in Brookline and as a Nurses Aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Lowell, until her retirement.
Surviving her besides her husband is a son: Myron James Smith, of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-law: Myron Ernest and Patricia (Chevrette) Hartwell, of Pepperell; also many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning, December 3rd, at 10 AM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38), to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial in the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell.
