Obituary

WORCESTER____James J. Cashman, 77, of Worcester, died Saturday July 7 in St. Vincent Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He leaves his wife, Barbara (Mattson) Cashman, three sons, Scott C. Cashman, Gary J. Cashman and James C. “Jay” Cashman. He also leaves a sister, Madeline wife of Arthur Shepard and a brother, Richard Cashman. He was predeceased by his brothers, John Cashman, Eugene Cashman and Stephen Cashman. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Worcester, a son of James and Mabel (Conway) Cashman.

Mr. Cashman was a graduate of Worcester Junior College. He was an accountant and previously owned a tax and bookkeeping service on Grafton Hill for 43 years before retiring four years ago due to illness.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his tour of duty during the Korean War. Jim was a member of Grafton Hill Post 323, American Legion and Vernon Hill Post 435, American Legion.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday July 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. The funeral will be held on Wednesday July 11 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial with military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Church Restoration Fund, 16 Hamilton Street, Worcester, Massachusetts, 01604.
