TEWKSBURY, MA - Irene F. (Haverty) Colarusso, age 90, died Saturday morning, July 7, at
Northwood Nursing Care Center in Lowell after a long period of declining health. She was the
wife of the late Ralph Colarusso who died in 1989.
She was born in Boston, July 31, 1916, a daughter of the late William and Kathryn (Carney)
Haverty, and was raised in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. She lived in Boston the greater
part of her life, but had moved to Tewksbury in 1971. As a resident of Tewksbury, Mrs.
Colarosso was a communicant of St. William’s Church.
She had worked for State Street Bank in Boston, and in her earlier years worked as a telephone
operator at New England Telephone Company.
She was lovingly described as having devoted her life to her family.
She is survived by six children, Ralph Colarusso of Revere, Thomas Colarusso of Dracut, Eleanor
Joyce and her husband Stephen of Roslindale, Peter Colarusso of Halifax, MA, Lisa Talbot and
her husband Donald of Chester, NH, Paula Bain and her husband David of Lowell; a sister,
Katherine Smith of Hanover; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great great
grandchildren.
She was also sister of the late Mary Cozza, Helen DiMarino, Margaret Madden, Anne O’Leary,
and William Haverty.
Her
Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 10, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Mass. Lions Eye Research Fund, c/o
