Mrs. Melba J. (Mann) Ranieri, 75, of 22 Burnham Drive, a Franklin native and former longtime resident, died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of the late Anthony N. “Gigi” Ranieri, who died in 1998.
Born in Franklin, August 15, 1931, a daughter of the late William and Bertha (Mann) Mann she was educated in local schools, and was a 1949 graduate of Franklin High School.
She retired in 1996 from the Plainville Stock Co., where she had been employed as a jewelry maker for more than 29 years.
She was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Assoc. of Retired Persons, and was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. She also did volunteer work at the Avery Heights Retirement Community in Hartford.
She is survived by a sister: Joyce A. Hine of W. Hartford, CT, 2 nieces: Karen Rosenbeck and Diane Iwans of W. Hartford, 2 grandnieces: Kayla Rosenbeck and Jeni Iwans, and a grandnephew Kyle Iwans all of W. Hartford.
She was the sister of the late Roger, Earl and Marilyn Mann.
The family would like to thank the many kind actions and prayers from the Vistas Hospice and the congregation at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday at 8:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, www.franklinfuneral.com with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
