Obituary

CHALMETTE, LA____Peter Pranckunas, 80, and Kestutis “Kayo” Pranckunas, 78, of Chalmette, formerly of Worcester, Ma., died August 30, 2005 as a result of flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane devastated the Gulf Coast region almost two years ago.

Peter and Kayo leave a brother, John J. Pranckunas of Oxford, Ma., and nieces, Valerie J. Pranckunas of Winslow, Me., Nadine C. Pranckunas of Portland, Me., Francine T. Pranckunas of West Boylston, Ma., Monica A. Gove of Rutland, Ma., Frances H. Andrews of Worcester and Paula Bunevith of Millbury, Ma. Kayo also leaves a son Joseph and a daughter, Rebecca. They were predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, Withold Pranckunas died in 2002, Edward Pranckunas died in 1939, Victor J. Pranckunas died in 1984, Philomena Garbauskas died in 1950 and Genevieve Kittle died in 2002. Peter and Kayo were born and raised in Worcester, sons of Joseph P. and Philomena (Janauskas) Pranckunas.

Peter and Kayo worked throughout the country for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. They were circus concession workers for many years before retiring to New Orleans and Chalmette. They were former members of St. Casimir Church, Worcester. Peter and Kayo were devoted brothers always caring for each other.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday July 11 with a Mass at 12:00 NOON in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street, Worcester, Ma., 01604.
