Obituary

WORCESTER-Joseph A. Mironda, 85, of Worcester passed away Thurs., July 5 at home.

His wife of 55 years, Aristea “Irene” (Pagonis) Mironda passed away in 2004. He leaves two sons, Michael A. and Timothy J. Mironda both of Worcester, his daughter, Katherine “Kathy” M. Eiland of Grand Bay, AL; his granddaughter, Robin Ramey and his great granddaughter, Brittany both of Houston, TX; his sister, Nina Scalia of Vero Beach, FL, nieces and nephews. A grandson, Van Sowell, Jr., his sister, Laura Errede and a brother, Alfred Mironda predeceased him.

Joseph was born in Worcester the son of James and Lucia (Granata) Miranda. Joseph was a member of St. Spyridon Greek orthodox Cathedral. He was a member of the Laborer’s Union Local #243 for over 50 years and an Endowment member of the NRA.

Joseph’s funeral will be Monday, July 9 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, July 8 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the VNA Care Network Hospice, 120 Thomas Street., Worcester, MA 01608.
