Ruth M. (Carey) Collins, a 7 year resident of North Andover and former 25 year resident of Wakefield, died on Friday July 6, 2007 at her home in North Andover following an extended illness. She was 94 years old.
Ruth was born in Malden on September 21, 1912. She grew up in Lynn where she attended Lynn Public Schools and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. She then attended Burdette Secretarial School in Boston. Ruth was a homemaker her entire life dedicating herself to her husband and children. She lived in Londonderry, New Hampshire for about 18 years following the death of her husband. She has been summering in Alton Bay, New Hampshire since 1956. Ruth was also a member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Church Womens Guild in Wakefield.
Ruth is the beloved wife of the late John F. Collins. She is the devoted mother of John C. Collins and his wife Mary of Cincinnati, Ohio, Edward J. Collins and his wife Joann of Salem, New Hampshire, Nan C. Dunn and her husband Richard of Clinton, Lawrence R. Collins and his wife Cindra of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, David F. Collins and his wife Marylyn of Groton, William A. Collins and his wife Maureen of Andover and the late Robert J. Collins. She is the loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren.
Ruth's Funeral will be held on Tuesday July 10, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 1159 Main St. Wakefield/Melrose line followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Ruth will be held on Monday July 9, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
