Antone J. "Tony" Rosa, Jr., 77, of New Bedford died Friday July 6, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bettyann (Turner) Rosa.
Born in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Antone J. and Mary (Fonseca) Rosa, and was raised by his late godmother, Louise Edwards. He lived in Taunton and New Bedford for many years.
Mr. Rosa was formerly employed by the Continental Screw Company and Heat Transfer Products until his retirement.
During the Korean War, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army, and was awarded the National Defense Service medal and the Good Conduct medal.
He enjoyed camping.
Survivors include four children, Debra J. Rosa, Donna M. Rosa, Margaret "Peggy" Rosa, and Richard P. Rosa, all of New Bedford; a brother, John Rosa of New Bedford; a sister, Helen Rosa of New Bedford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Richard P. Rosa, Jr. and the brother of the late Dolores Resendes.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Rural Cemetery.
