Obituary

W. Maurice McAllister, 80, of Tifton died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Gerald Purvis will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Dean McAllister, Dennis McAllister, Kenny Waldrop, David Williams, Brent Pearman and Jimmy Fletcher will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be former and present employees of Lewis Taylor Farms. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 7, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. McAllister was born on January 23, 1927 in Tift County and was the son of T. J. McAllister and Cleo Griffin McAllister, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Curtis McAllister; and one sister, Ruth Waldrop. He was a retired farmer and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was also a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. McAllister is survived by his wife, Juanita Sumner McAllister of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Janet McAllister of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Bill Brim of Tifton and Teresa and Mitchell Cook of Tifton; two sisters, Athleen Fletcher of Tifton and Myraline Williams of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren, Will McAllister, Jennifer Rackley, Todd Bledsoe, Jessica Kirk, Wendy Cook, Hunter McAllister and Callie McAllister; and five great grandchildren.
