Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 9 am. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. M. Irene Devine 92 years of Brockton died Sunday morning at BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was born in Haverhill a daughter of the late of John J. and Alice M. Devine and had resided in the South Shore area for most of her life.
Miss Devine was a graduate of Abington High School Class of 1933 and Burdett Business College in Boston. She had been a secretary for 31 years at the law firm of Hale & Dorr in Boston. She had also worked in the business office at Edgars Department Store.
Miss Devine was a gifted story teller who captivated the imagination of her family members. She had a passion for absorbing cultural and social current events. She enjoyed studying history and was a worldwide traveler who enjoyed tracing her ancestry in the British Isles.
Miss Devine was an inspirational person who had a lasting affect on anyone she met. She loved reading and raising parakeets.
Miss Devine had been a longtime member of St. Edward Church.
She is survived by her cousins Robert Carmichael Sr., Robert Carmichael Jr., Paul Carmichael; Carol (Carmichael) Drake, Kathy (Carmichael) Surette, Denise (Quill) St. Pierre, Sheila (Quill) Gillen, Vincent and Bernadine Quill.
