BEVERLY: Thomas J. Brennan, 85, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret G. (Kerrigan) Brennan, who died in March of 2005. They had shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on September 14, 1921, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Esther (Martin) Brennan. He attended St. Mary’s Boys High School, Lynn graduating in the class of 1939. He had resided in Lynn for thirty years before moving to Beverly in 1952.
He apprenticed at General Electric Company where he was employed as a Registered Professional Engineer for sixty years at the River Works Plant in Lynn. He retired in November of 2006.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a life member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Fidelity Post #1011 in Peabody, a member of Military Order of Cooties Pup Tent #34, Herman A. Spear Post #331, American Legion and the Vittori-Rocci Post in Beverly. Thomas was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #2017, Ancient Order of Hibernians, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Assembly #390, an Associate Member of the USS Enterprise Association, the General Electric Apprentice Association, and a member of IFPTE Local 149.
He is survived by four sons, Thomas W., Richard D., Joseph J. and Timothy P. Brennan all of Beverly, a daughter, Patricia M. Brennan of Littleton, six grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Thomas, Timothy, Laura and Kathleen, three great-grandchildren Brianna, Anthony and Morgan. He is also survived by a brother, William E. Brennan of Box Springs, Georgia, a sister, Frances L. Kenney of Stoneham, several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the All Care Hospice, 16 City Hall Sq., Lynn, MA 01901. Interment will be held privately in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn.
