Obituary

Worcester-Sam A Hasanowicz 80 formerly of 4 Halmstead St. died November 30 in Radius Healthcare, 119 Providence Street following an illness.

He is survived by his wife of fifty six years Ann H (Krencisz) Hasanowicz, two sons Dennis P Hasanowicz of Browns Mills new Jersey and James A Hasanowicz of Worcester. A daughter Carol A Desrosiers of Worcester, a brother Steven Hasanowicz of New York and two sisters, Mary Slon and Faye Keenan both of Crestview Florida. Another brother Alex Hasan of Florida predeceased him. He also is survived by two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Mr. Hasanowicz was born in Brooklyn New York, was educated in Brooklyn Schools and later served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Nevada. He served in the US Army during World War II and moved to Worcester in 1946. He worked as a Bread Wrapper for thirty five years at JJ Nissen Baking Company before retiring in 1984. Following his retirement he worked for eleven years as a School Bus Monitor for the City of Worcester.

He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. The Bakers and Confectioner s Union Local 251. He was a volunteer at the former Belmont Home for fifteen years, and later Christopher House for three years. He was also a member oft he Belmont Home Community Association.

The funeral will be held tomorrow December 3 from The Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home (www.worcesterfuneral.com) 33 Ward Street with a Mass at 9am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County memorial Park, Paxton.Calling hours at the funeral home are from 3 to 7pm today December 2.Donations may be made to The Patient Activity Fund of Radius Healthcare 119 Providence Street Worcester Mass. 01604
