Catharine (Sweeny) Scott ff Newton died on Saturday, June 30th at the Caritas St. Elizabeth’s medical Center in Brighton. She was 64 years old. Born in Philadelphia PA she was the daughter of the late Alyce (Sentner) and Alvin Sweeny. Catharine was a graduate of Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in Overbrook PA Class of 1961 and Bryn Mawr College. She earned a Masters degree in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania and was a professor of Art History at the University of Maryland. The former wife of Michael R. Scott of Boston she leaves her children Elizabeth S. Tervo of Oakland, CA, Robert A. of Provincetown and David M. of Brooklyn, NY. Catharine was the sister of Andrew M. Sweeney of Wayne, PA. Grandmother of Paul and Lucy Tervo of Oakland, CA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St. Newton on Thursday July 5th at 10:30 AM.
