WEBSTER – Hermina M. (Mroczek) Madura, 101, of 17 Brodeur Avenue, died Thursday, June 28, in Webster Manor. Her husband, John P. Madura, died in 1939.
She leaves a daughter, Charlotte Skarbek of San Antonio, TX; her son-in-law, Paul R. Wajer, with whom she lived for many years; five sisters, Adele Pakulski, Monica Gogolinski, Tessie Surozenski and Theresa Makowski, all of Webster, and Josephine Kaczmarek of Dudley; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Alice Fitzback in 1989 and Sally Wajer in 2005. Her brother, Edmund Mroczek, and two sisters, Valencia Plasse and Charlotte Klekotka, also died before her.
She was born and raised in Webster, the oldest child of Joseph and Leokadya (Bonczek) Mroczek, and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Madura was a stitcher at the American Optical Company in Southbridge for over 30 years before retiring in 1970. She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and its Saint Anne Society.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 6, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 5, in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to either the Friends of St. Joseph School Fund, 53 Whitcomb St., or to Webster Manor Patient Activities Fund, 745 School St., both Webster, MA 01570.
