MONSON, MAINE - Robert R. Routhier, 71 of Monson, Maine died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 unexpectedly at his home.
He was born in New Bedford son of the late Rene and Alice V. (Sivigny) Routhier and had lived in Westport for most of his life prior to moving to Maine in 2000. He was a graduate of Westport high school, class of 1955. He was formerly employed as a heavy equipment operator with the Local 57 Union of Rhode Island until his retirement in 1991. He also owned and operated Civil War Collectables of Maine where he was a renowned expert in Civil War artifacts and history. Mr. Routhier served in the Sea Bee’s during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the National Rifle Association and was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Westport for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved his chocolate Labrador retriever named Katie.
Survivors include: 4 daughters; Susan J. Sharpe of Westport, Cynthia A. Olivier of Maine, Janet M. McNulty of Westport and Catherine M. Routhier of Rehoboth, 1 sister: Jeanne Warner of Westport; 1 granddaughter: Elizabeth A. DaSilva; former wife:Virginia V. Routhier.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Monday, July 2, 2007 at 9:00 A.M. from the Potter Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
Calling hours will be Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
