Obituary

Vernon CT- William G. Regan, 100, of 22 South Street, formerly of Walnut Street Shrewsbury, died Wednesday November 27, 2002 in Fox Hill Center Nursing Home after an illness.

He is survived by a daughter Barbara L. Regan of Dalton, two sons; Robert W. Regan of Oxnard CA and Ronald E. Regan of Ellington CT 6 Grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren.

His wife Audria L. (Pigue) predeceased him.

Born in Worcester son of the late William J. and Catherine (McQuillan) Regan, he attended Worcester schools, later graduating Commerce High School, and later Holy Cross College.

While a collegian he was an accomplished Sprinter, Baseball Player, later playing semi-pro Baseball, in the Worcester area, and also in the Philadelphia A’s Farm Team system. He was also a noted speed skater.

Mr. Regan worked as a salesman and as an engineering designer in the furniture industry for forty five years before retiring in the mid 1970’s

Active in community affairs, he pioneered the Shrewsbury Little League and Intermediate League in the mid 1950’s as well as other youth sports programs. He served as an officer for the Shrewsbury Dog Obedience Training Club.

A Lifelong sports fan, he followed the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins, and Notre –Dame Football.

His Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2002 with a Mass at 11:00 in Saint Mary’s Church 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury Calling Hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday AM from 9:30-10:45 Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
