Eugene J. Michaud, III, of Woonsocket, died Monday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Gail L. (Rawlinson) Michaud.
Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Eugene J. Jr., and Rose (Gascon) Michaud. He was a resident of Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Michaud served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked as a painting contractor in the area for many years. He also worked as a baker for Dunkin Donuts, and as a guard for the Norfolk Security Co. for several years, before retiring in 1989.
Mr. Michaud was a life-member, Past Commander, and bartender at the AMVETS Post 7 & 12 in Woonsocket. He was also a life-member of the American Legion Post 62.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, David A. Michaud, and Eugene J. Michaud, IV, both of Woonsocket, and Doug Rawlinson, of Maine, seven daughters, Gail C. Durkin, and JoAnne Michaud, both of Woonsocket, Cecile Biggerstaff, of OK., Jeanne Phillips, of Providence, Debra Welch, and Lisa Wilkins, both of Maine, and Jean Frechette, of FL., two sisters, Alice Greer, of NJ, Claire Deslaurier, of Harrisville. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Alex David Michaud, and brother of the late Charles and Robert Michaud, Rose Champagne, and Rita Waters.
His funeral will be Friday at 8:00 am from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Charles Church, North Main St., Woonsocket.
