Joseph F. Carreiro, of Needham, a retired heavy equipment operator for the Town of Needham, died Tuesday June 26, 2007 at Avery Manor in Needham. He was 94.
Born in Brookline he worked as a welder at the Charlestown Navy Yard during WW II. He also worked for Deerfoot Farms in Newton and Sealtest Ice Cream.
Husband of the late Louise (Sostilio) Carreiro, he is survived by his sons and their wives, Robert J. Carreiro and Marie of Boston and Donald Carreiro and Mary of Westwood, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings Walter, Arthur, Tony, Betty Franco,Marie Carreiro and Laura Boyle.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham on Thurs June 28 at 9 AM and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church Needham at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Wed from 6-8 PM.
