WORCESTER-Veronica N. Muruguru, 47, of Worcester died Tuesday, June 19th in UMass Medical Center. She leaves a son, Joseph I. Muruguru of Worcester; her parents, Joseph I. Muruguru and Grace K. Kironyo Itugi of Kenya; 2 sisters, Jane I. Muruguru and Catherine W. Itugi both of Worcester; and 4 brothers and 4 sisters in Kenya; 3 uncles, John N. and Michael K. Kironyo of Brockton and Francis K. Kironyo of New York; an aunt, Jennifer W. Kironyo-Kajiru of Maryland; 2 cousins, Grace G. Kironyo-Lidonde of Sutton and Simon M. Kironyo of Worcester; several nephews and nieces including Neil G. Ngondi of Worcester..
She was born in Kenya and moved to Worcester in 1980. Ms. Muruguru was a graduate of Assumption College and was employed by Helen Bowditch for 10 years as a social worker. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church and Worcester’s Kenyan community; and enjoyed decorating, gardening and having fresh flowers in her home daily.
The funeral is Saturday. June 30th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 29th, from 5:00 until 7:00PM in the funeral home.
