Obituary

Wilfred P. Samson, 79, of New Bedford died Friday November 29, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Eileen (Syratt) Samson.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Eugene and Alexandrine (Dompierre) Samson, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Samson was formerly employed by Calvin Clothing in New Bedford until his retirement.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps with the 50th Field Hospital in Europe . He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon, the Good Conduct medal, and the Victory medal.

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Ann E. Frias and her husband William of Swansea, and Karen Samson of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Laura Ouellette and Todd Frias; 2 great-grandchildren, Vanessa DeMotta and Andrew Ouellette; and several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Rita Rouke, Rene Samson, and Roland Samson.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday evening December 3, 2002 at 7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM prior to the Service.
