Obituary

Robert James Fitzgerald, 80 of Franklin died June 24 in the Blaire House of Milford. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Maticic) Fitzgerald for 43 years who died in 1994.
Born in Belfast, Maine, April 22, 1927 the son of the late Thomas M. and Eva P. (Graham) Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald grew up in Islesboro, Maine then moved to Medway where he lived for 15 years before moving to Franklin where he lived since 1955.
He was a graduate of Medway High School.
Mr. Fitzgerald worked as a technician for AT&T and then NYNEX for many years before retiring in 1991.
He will be fondly remembered for his passions for gardening, bird watching and reading books. He had a special pride for his family, especially his 3 grandchildren.
Mr. Fitzgerald served in the Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his daughter Linda St. Jean and her husband Robert of Phillipston.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jill St. Jean of Franklin, Kimberly St. Jean and Stephanie St. Jean of Phillipston as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving and youngest child of nine.
He was the brother of the late Thomas, Joseph, William, John, Russell, Lillian, Bernice and Mary.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 28 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber St. in Medway at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Jospeh Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
