Mrs. Marion R. (D’Apolito) Sliman, beloved wife of the late Wilbur G. Sliman and a resident of Medford for more than 30 years, formerly of Malden, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on June 23, 2007. She was 85 years old.
She was born on May 11, 1922, in Boston, Massachusetts, a beloved daughter of the late Raffaele and Emmanuela (Mazzarelli) D’Apolito. Mrs. Sliman loved to play bingo and cards as well as knitting. She was also a wonderful seamstress. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling to Mexico and Canada. In her later years she enjoyed many winters in California.
She was the loving mother of the late Lillian Sliman and George L. Sliman; dear mother-in-law of Laura M. Sliman of Medford; cherished grandmother of Rachel and Victoria Sliman both of Medford; devoted sister of Angie and her husband John Welch of Lynn and the late Pasquale D’Apolito; dear friend of Norah Ford; beloved aunt of Mary Ann Waldorf of Goffstown, N.H., Diane and Eileen Smith both of South Boston and Anna Lucy of Saugus. She was also the loving aunt and godmother of the late Martin Welch. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews. Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home 29 Governors Avenue, MEDFORD, Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Visiting hours were Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, Boston.
