Louise H. Coates, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2007 to be with our heavenly father. Louise was born in Norwich on September 12, 1946.
Louise loved to do ceramics, paint, and arts and crafts. She was a terrific baker and a great cook. Everyone who had the privilege of know her called her “MA”. Louise was a very special and dear friend to all who knew her. She was also a very prod and loving mother and grandmother. She helped in taking care of all of her grandchildren at one time or another. She also did all she could for her family.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Lewis of New London; her daughters, Tabitha Coates and Rhonda Douglas both of New London and Jennifer Coates of Groton; her sons-in-law, Carl Douglas of New London and David Herbert of Groton; 12 grandchildren, Tiesha Clark, Shaylynn Coates, Cameron Coates, Maverick Coates, Kavon Coates, Lawayne Coates, Novyanna Coates, Amanda Page, Ashley Page, Destiny Douglas, Camille Douglas, & Ashley Douglas; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Travon, her nephew Michael Lewis, and many other friends and family. Her daughter, Stephanie C. Coates and husband Elmer F. Coates predeceased her. The family would also like to give special thanks to Tabitha Coates for caring for Louise in her last years.
Her family will greet relatives and at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-6pm. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Friday at 2pm. Everyone should meet at the cemetery at 1:45pm).
