Obituary

Elizabeth Henriette (Morin) Dubia, 97, of New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, formerly of Tilton and Laconia died Saturday evening, June 16, 2007 at Golden Living in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

Born on June 30, 1909 in Laconia where she was raised, she was the daughter of the late Fred O. and Leda (LaBranche) Morin. Elizabeth would have celebrated her 98th birthday at the end of this month.

She married Lawrence J. Dubia on September 1, 1930. They were married for 54 years.

Elizabeth started working at the former Morin Mill now known as the Belknap Mill in Laconia at the age of 15. She then worked at the Tilton Mill and the Sulloway Mill as a winder. She went on to work at the Micca Shop in Franklin, and then the Belt Shop in Tilton until she met and married her husband becoming a homemaker.

Elizabeth was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Tilton, and regularly helped with church functions and activities until she moved to New Bethlehem, PA in 1998. Living in New Bethlehem, PA for almost 9 years she enjoyed her family, playing Bingo and Cribbage, as well as cooking for her family and friends.

After the sudden death of their daughter Marie Dorothy Dubia Aiton in 1958, the Dubia’s took over the care and raising of five grandchildren for the next ten years. She was a Gold Star Mother, as she lost her son, Lawrence N. Dubia in 1970 while serving his country in Vietnam.

In addition to her parents, husband, daughter, and son, she is predeceased by another son, Philip George Dubia in 2000; two brothers, Alphonse Morin, and George “Red” Morin; and one sister, Delima Morin Smith.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Helen Morin of Seminole, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Dubia of New Bethlehem, PA. 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren also survive Elizabeth.

Visiting hours were held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 16 Chestnut Street, Tilton. Burial followed in the family lot in St. John Cemetery, Route 132, Tilton.
