BILLERICA: John S. Mucci, age 80, of Lowell, formerly a resident of Billerica for 15 years, died Friday, June 15th, at the Fairhaven Healthcare Center in Lowell, following an extended illness.
He was the husband of Carol A. (Brown) Mucci, with whom he celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on February 28th.
Born in Malden on July 23, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Vicarrio) Mucci.
He was raised in Malden, attended Malden schools and graduated from Malden High School.
Mr. Mucci served during World War II in the U.S. Navy.
He resided in Billerica for over 15 years, until moving to Lowell in 2003.
Prior to his retirement, he co-owned and operated Genesis Dye Cutting Company of Lowell.
Mr. Mucci was a member of the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post # 8164 and the Reading V.F.W. Post.
According to his family, he enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In addition, he enjoyed picking blue berries with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Carolyn E. Mucci and nancy A. Mucci both of Lowell and Marilyn Rubner of Billerica; four sons, John P. Mucci of Lowell, Robert J. Mucci of Sarasota, FL, John B. Mucci of Andover and Gary Mucci of Arkansas; numerous grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Calling hours Wednesday, June 20th, from 6-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Greater Lowell V.N.A./ Hospice, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01853 are requested.
