Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Robert E. Macaulay, age 82, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was the husband of Dorothy E. (Mottram) Macaulay, who died September 5, 2001.
Born in Sanbornton, NH on January 6, 1925, he was the son of the late James and Ida Mae (Higgins) Macaulay.
Mr. Macaulay was raised in Sanbornton, NH and Tewksbury, MA.
He attended Sanbornton and Tewksbury schools and was a graduate of Tewksbury High School.
In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Macaulay served during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Rinehart and was awarded several decorations including the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist by the Mitron Precision Machine Company of Wilmington.
According to his family, he enjoyed caring for his dog “Denver” and fishing at the Squannacook River in Townsend and at Forest Lake in Methuen.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie Hodge of Viola, AR, Robert E. Macaulay, Jr. of Cabot, AR, James M. Macaulay of Billerica and Dorothy J. Macaulay, with whom he resided of Tewksbury; one grandson, David A. Hodge of Little Rock, AR.
Mr. Macaulay was the brother of the late Charles and Milo Macaulay.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 21st, at 1 p.m. at the Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Andover Animal Hospital, c/o Dr. Richard Lindsay, 233 Lowell Rd., Andover, MA 01810 are requested.
