John “Mario” Polcari, a life-long resident of Boston’s North End, died Thursday at Tufts New England Medical Center. He was 95.
Born and raised in the North End, Mario was a cigar salesman for the Parodi Cigar Co., until his retirement.
He was the beloved husband of the late Sophie (Sarno) Polcari who died in 2001. He was the devoted son of the late Antonio and Marianina Polcari. He was a dear brother of Anthony Polcari, the late Nicholas and Lt. Angelo Polcari. He was the son-in-law of the late Joseph and Mary Sarno and brother-in-law of Eleanor Sarno, Joseph Bruno and his late wife Margaret, the late Domenic, Frank and Albert Sarno. Mario also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, at 9:45 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
