Tressie Posey Haney, 89, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, June 15 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 18, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Biggers and Rev. Edsel Young officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Haney was born March 13, 1918, in Franklin County, Alabama, to the late Singleton and Winnie Morrison Posey. She had lived in the community since 1951 coming from Double Springs, Alabama. She was a former seamstress for Fitzgerald Underwear and was a caregiver and kept children. Formerly a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, she was an avid quilter and loved crafts and was a member of Dorminy Mill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Haney is survived by her children and their spouses: Ansel & Barbara Haney of Lakeland, FL, Wayne & Sue Haney of Fitzgerald, Gail & Chester Fountain, Jr. of Fitzgerald, Janice & Russell Watson of Irwin County, and Fonda Henderson of Albany; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Geneva Jordan of Gainesville, FL; and two brothers: Edsel Posey of Milton, FL and James Posey of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Edward Haney, one son: Jessie Willard Haney, and one sister: Mildred Willis.
