Samuel Doran Bertram, 93, of Holiday, FL died June 4, 2007 peacefully at home.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Dore) Bertram.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, the son of the late Richard and Catherine (MacRae) Bertram, he was raised in New Bedford and lived in Mattapoisett many years. He and his wife retired to Holiday in 1978 and summered in Mattapoisett and Barnstable.
He was a member of the Holiday United Church of Christ and the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
Mr. Bertram was formerly employed by New England Telephone for 35 years before retiring as a manager.
He was a member of the Pythagorean Lodge, A.F. & A.M., member of the Valley of Southeastern Massachusetts Scottish Rite and the Aleppo Temple. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Tinkhamtown and Mattapoisett Improvement Association, and the Tinkhamtown Chapel Association.
Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Bertram, and her husband James Crabtree, of Marion, Christine Bertram of Mattapoisett and Carol Eckblom, and her husband Jay, of Braintree; three grandchildren, Christian Bertram and Michael Bertram, both of Mattapoisett and Katerina Eckblom of Braintree.
His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14th at 3:30 PM in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667 or to the American Cancer Society - Skin Cancer Research & Activities, 1115 W.
