Westport - Henri L. Menard, 75, of Westport passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mariette M. (Turcotte) Menard.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Napoleon and Agathe (Morrisette) Menard, he grew up in Fall River prior to moving to Westport in 1953. He was the co-owner of the former Menard Poultry in Westport and the former Flint Poultry in Fall River until retiring in 1987. Mr. Menard was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Later in life he started with great pride, Highland Gardens where people visited and took pictures for weddings. He was an avid fisherman, sports fan and gardener.
Including his wife of 54 years, he is survived by 6 sons: Henri Menard of Westport, Michael Menard of Dartmouth, Ronald Menard of Westport, David Menard of Somerset, Gerald Menard of Westport and James Menard of Westport; 3 daughters: Jeanne Rego of Summerfield, FL, Madeleine Monteiro of Woonsocket, RI and Karen Sullivan of Somerset; 2 sisters: Jeanne Menard of Fall River and Juliette Parent of Westport; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rita Durette, Armand Menard and Paul Menard.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, June 18, 2007 from the Potter Funeral Home at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 4 - 7 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
