Obituary

Bronnie Mae Sammons Giddens Brown, 80, of Tifton died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glenn Ford and Rev. John S. Gibbs, Jr. will officiate with burial to follow in Poulan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Gibbs, Ernest Dove, Wayne Matthews, Clinton Moore, Keith Newell and Ronald Dorman and David Little. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Red Hat Society and alumni of the Citizens Police Academy. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 16, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Brown was born on February 25, 1927 in Johnson County and was the daughter of O. L. Sammons and Mattie Mae Carter Sammons, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, JB Giddens; one son, Stanley Giddens; one sister, Roma Broughton; a niece that she raised, Florene Giddens; and a cousin, Jack Davis. She was retired from the State of Georgia as an instructor for disabled persons. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church; a member of the Red Hat Society; alumna of the Citizens Police Academy; and a member of the Georgia Hobo Scotty Camping Club.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Jesse Brown of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike Giddens of Tifton, Norman and Debbie Giddens of Poulan, and Eric and Katrina Giddens of Adel; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Becky Brinkley of Tifton, Anita and Edwin Taylor of Savannah, Rita and Randy Tomlinson of Tifton, and Connie and Buddy Deloach of Tifton; five nieces and one nephew that she raised, Buddy and Angie Giddens of Tifton, Earnestine and Mike Farmer of Ocilla, Pam and Glyn Joiner of Willacoochee, Florence and Dean Hayes of Tifton, Diane and Troy Barber of Tifton, and Elaine and Ronald Hudson of Ocilla; one daughter-in-law, Margie Giddens of Poulan; one sister, Carolyn Sammons of Tifton; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and twin girls expected in August.
