WORCESTER-Constantinos D. Lalos, 86, of Worcester died Wednesday, June 13th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his loving and devoted wife, Froso (Poulias) Lalos; they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last Sunday; a daughter Elizabeth C. and her husband Giuseppe Civitarese, and cherished granddaughter, Isabella Civitarese all of Brookline; his brother, Theodossios D. Lalos and his sister, Eftihia Poulias both of Worcester. 2 brothers, Elias D. Lallos and Evangelos D. Lalos predeceased him.
He was born in Giromerion, Epirus, Greece the son of Donatos and Despina (Sotiriou) Lalos, immigrated to Southbridge in 1951 and later moved to Worcester. Mr. Lalos was a veteran of the Greek Army and a graduate of Athens University, School of Fine Arts where he earned his art and teaching degrees; he later graduated from the former Worcester Junior College. He had been employed by Arduini Manufacturing Company as a mechanical engineer for 15 years and in 1973 co-founded, owned and operated American Fabricating Corporation with his brother Ted and Luigi Nardella, until his retirement. Mr. Lalos was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior Citizens Group and the Pan Epirotic Society. He and his wife traveled extensively, visiting almost every continent. Mr. Lalos enjoyed learning languages and would study a language before embarking on their trips. His greatest joy was being Pappou to Isabella, who was the apple of his eye. He unfailingly attended her ballet recitals, theater performances and Greek School events. His garden and flowers were his pride and joy; he spent countless hours beautifying his yard. Mr. Lalos was a generous man and contributed to many charitable organizations. He will be remembered as a warm and caring man with a heart of gold; and was loved and admired by all who knew him.
The funeral is Saturday, June 16th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 15th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
