TYNGSBORO, MA – Laura T. (Mendonca) Gulbicki, 85, of Tyngsboro died Sunday June 10, 2007 in Pelham, NH. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Gulbicki.
Born in Lowell, MA on February 14, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Joao de Sousa and Maria (Bettencourt) Mendonca. She was educated in the Lowell School system and graduated from Lowell High School.
Mrs. Gulbicki served in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving as a surgical technician. She was a prominent, well known business woman who owned and operated Gulbicki’s Towing and Service in Lowell until her retirement in June of 2000. She was a member of the Portuguese American Veterans Post #3 in Lowell, the Seton Guild in Lowell, the Holy Ghost Society in Lowell, the D’Youville Manor in Lowell, the Lithuanian Club in Lowell, and volunteered for various organizations in the area. She was also an avid BINGO player and loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Gulbicki leaves two sons Charles Gulbicki Jr. and his wife Jill of Laconia, NH and John Gulbicki and his wife Lesa Breault-Gulbicki of Pelham, NH; seven daughters Shirley Whiting and her husband Richard of Pelham, Charlene Valentino and her companion Ronald Mason of Lowell, Deborah Gulbicki-Silva and her husband Mario of Tyngsboro, MA, Kathleen Gulbicki-Donovan and her husband Richard of Dracut, Maureen Vieira and her husband Robert of Manteca, CA, Laurie Libitz and her husband Paul of Hudson, NH, and Donna Soulard and her husband Robert of Manchester, NH; two sisters Margaret Katibian of Laguna Woods, CA and Gladys Picanso of Lowell; twenty-six grandchildren Charles Gulbicki, Sunday Dearborne, Jennifer Thomas, John Gulbicki, Jr., Cheryl Hirsch, Sandra Whiting, Richard Whiting, Kimberly Wallace, Charles Valentino, Eric Valentino, Sonya Valentino, Tanya Valentino, Dr. Shawn Silva, Nicole Montminy, Andrea Scondras, Laurie Scondras, Christina Scondras, Alicia Bravo, Danielle Vieira, Emily Vieira, Megan Green, Stacy Libitz, Ashley Libitz, Natalie Libitz, Christian Soulard, and Heather Soulard; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother Manuel Mendonca.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 8:45 AM followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Anthony Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
