Obituary

WORCESTER-Dennis W. Mias, 78, of Worcester, died Monday, June 11th in St. Vincent Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy A. (Dowd) Mias; 3 sons, James Mias and his wife Robin of Northampton, John Mias and his wife Nancy and Jeffrey Mias and his wife Lynne sll of Worcester; 2 daughters, Jody Lovely of Worcester and Julie Parenteau and her husband John of Spencer; 2 sisters, Lottie Augustiniak and Florence Williams both of Schenectady, NY; and 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Seth, Maggie, Bridget, Jessica, Brian, Alycia, Timothy, Brandon, Erin and Paige. Three brothers, William, Stanley and Bernard Mias predeceased him.

He was born in Schenectady, NY the son of John and Maryanna (Kita) Mias and the stepson of Constance (Florkiewicz) Mias. Mr. Mias worked for Lusignan Brothers for 35 years as a sheet metal welder until his retirement. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Mias was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hillcrest Country Club and the Worcester Men of Song. Mr. Mias was an avid Yankees fan, golfer and bowler. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's Little League games. Mr. Mias loved Hampton Beach and had many fond memories there. He was known for the neighborhood 4th of July party he held in his backyard for many years.

The funeral is Thursday, June 14th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 13th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and donations, the family asks you to do a simple, kind gesture in memory of this good husband and father.
