AUBURN-Felix J. “Phil” Prachniak, 90, of Auburn, formerly of Cherry Valley died Sunday, June 10th in St. Vincent Hospital with his family by his side. His wife of almost 69 years Irene G. (Lapierre) Prachniak, died last October. He leaves a son, Gerald N. and his wife Shirley Prachniak of Worcester; and a daughter, Gail M., wife of Joseph W. Montysko with whom he lived; 2 grandsons, Gregory J., and his wife Beth Montysko of Charlotte, NC and Eric R. Montysko of Germantown, MD; 2 great-grandchildren, Heather M. Montysko and R. J. Saddi, many nephews an nieces. 3 brothers and 2 sisters predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Peter M. and Rozalia (Nasiatka) Prachniak. Mr. Prachniak had been employed for 24 years by Massachusetts Knitting Mills and from 1969 until his retirement in 1981 by Carleton Woolen Mills as a loom fixer and foreman. He was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Leicester and enjoyed gardening and wood crafting, often displaying and selling his creations at various craft fairs.
The funeral is Friday, June 15th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at Noon in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday, June 14th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
