Andover, MA – James H. Smith, 83, died Sunday June 10, 2007 at the Academy Nursing Home.
Born in Lawrence February 25, 1924, Mr. Smith was a longtime Andover resident, He had been employed for 27 years as a Machinist with Tyer Rubber in Andover and prior to his retirement was a Custodian with the Town of Andover.
During World War II Mr. Smith served his country in the United States Navy.
For many years he was an active member of the Andover Bible Chapel.
James was an avid woodworker, who enjoyed boating, fishing, and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy E. (Webb) Smith, and children David & wife Carol Smith of Winchendon, MA, and daughter Glenna J. Smith of Salisbury Beach, grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Stephanie Roszko, and James Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday morning at 10 o’clock from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
