Catherine V. (Ratti) Grundmann, 80, of Mansfield formerly of New York died on Sunday June 10, 2007 at the Epoch Senior Health Care Center in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Grundmann to whom she was wed to for 39 years at the time of his death on August 1, 1989.
Born in Bronx, New York on February 14, 1927 she was a loving daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (McManus) Ratti.
She grew up in Bronx, New York and was a graduate of the Cathedral High School in Manhattan, New York. Mrs. Grundmann was a retired Sales Person having worked for R.H. Macy’s in Bronx for 26 years prior to retiring in 1990. She also served as a Union Representative & Shop Steward for Macy’s.
While living in Mansfield she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. Catherine was an avid knitter and sewer. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and also visited Italy and Ireland amongst other trips taken. She treasured the times spent with her loving family. Mrs. Grundmann had made her home in Mansfield for the past 17 years and was a former longtime resident of New York.
She is survived by her devoted children; Eileen C. Shurtleff and her husband Richard of Mansfield, Roy M. Grundmann and his wife Diane of Mahwah, New Jersey and Edward A. Grundmann and his wife Jeanne of Middletown, New Jersey. Her dear sister; Clair Burns of Reston, Virginia. Her cherished grandchildren; Beth, Denis, Nicci, Catherine and Steven. Her dear great grandson Aiden. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday June 13th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be held on Thursday June 14th in St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, New York.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday June 12th from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
