General Albert Whitmire, 82, of Tifton died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007, at River of Life Church. Rev. Morris Gaines will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be Thomas Wade, Jason Boshart, John Hurtle, John Connell, Tony Dillard and Lee Marchant. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 10, 2007, fro 7:00 t0 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Whitmire was born on January 8, 1925 in Alamo and was the son of Pearlie Mae White Whitmire, deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Townsend Whitmire, who passes away in 1991; one son, Charles Whitmire; two brothers; and two sisters. He was retired from the construction business and attended River of Life Church. Mr. Whitmire had lived in Tift County since 1984.
Mr. Whitmire is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and Shelton Washington of Tifton, and Bonnie and George Davis of Tifton; one brother, Russell Swinson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; one sister, Louise Banks of Winter Haven, Florida; four granddaughters; and six great grandchildren.
