Obituary



Worcester, MA—John C. Hildreth, 82, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Odd Fellows Home. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Jeannette (Roraback) Hildreth; two daughters, Jane Rantala and her husband, Paul of Worcester and Paula Angi and her husband, Anthony of Yorktown Heights, NY; and 4 grandchildren, Diana, Kate, and Tim Angi and Christine McKeon. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert. He was born in Westfield, son of Dr. Robert D. and Carrie (Moses) Hildreth. He served in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Ticonderoga. He was a graduate of Westfield High School, Nichols College, and received his B.S. degree from Clark University. He worked for HB Smith Boiler Company for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Isaiah Thomas/Morning Star Lodge of Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Melha Shrine Temple. John was an EMT State Examiner, a volunteer EMT for Hahnemann Hospital, taught EMT for Worcester Night Life, taught CPR and Advanced First Aid. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol and an instructor for 40 years. He did security for the Solomon Pond and Greendale Malls for many years. He also did security for the Patriots at Foxboro Stadium and the World Cup Soccer teams.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. in NORDGREN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield at a later date. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. Morning Star Lodge will conduct their ritual at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104 or the Odd Fellows Home Activity Fund, 104 Randolph Road, Worcester MA 01606.
