Obituary


Walter Barton, 51 died Friday June 8th in the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health.

Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Corrinne (Thornton) Barton. He lived most of his life in Abington and Rockland for many years. Walter attended south Shore Vocational School in Hanover.

He worked as a Commercial Painter for a local company. He was in the United States Air Force.

An Avid outdoor sportsmen, nature enthusiast, loved the Red Sox, Patriots and attended many games, also enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and was very interested in local Native American ceremonies.


He is survived by his former wife Laurie (Marrocco) Barton of Rockland; his son Walter M. Barton of Virginia, and two daughters Elisha M. Barton of Brockton and Elizabeth Barton of Rockland; his brothers and a sister, Charles Barton of Washington State, Donald Barton of Abington ,Kathleen Roberts and her husband Thomas of Brockton; also nineteen nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held Saturday June 23rd at 11:00 A. M. in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Visiting hours will be held Monday June 11th 4-8 P. M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA.
